Yes, some meds can make you sick.

The SSRI class of anti-depressants (Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa (esp), Lexapro, Luvox, Prozac) all work on receptors that are found... in some individuals more, in others less, in the stomach as well as in the brain. Mostly the problem is nausea, but if you're sensitive it can ... well, get worse. It helps to take it with food; sometimes an anti-emetic is given if the problem is serious.

Depakote, a mood stabilizer, is well known as an irritant... and i've heard the generic is even worse. It helps to take it with (lots of) food.

Lithium can cause GI upset on the upstream and the downstream, if you know what i mean... that can also be a sign of toxicity... so should be reported to doc right away.

In general, if you are getting sick a lot and were not before, regardless what you are taking, it is a good idea to call in to your pdoc and report your symptoms.

I think there is a place here for GI issues... ummm ok, no, its specifically Gluten Sensitivity/Celiac disease.

There are other forums here too which might be helpful -

General Health Conditions & Rare Disorders

Medications (might have some info on side effects of what you take).

These are the ones that jumped out at me. You might find others of interest - the complete forum list is at neurotalk forum index

good luck... i hope you feel better
