For me my best defense is always knowledge. My first year w/MS has been tough, only because I had to learn everything. How did MS feel? Was this sensation MS? Was this sensation MS and a problem? Should I call my neuro? Do I need steroids? I think everyone has those questions in the beginning. The hope would be to slowly decipher what is "normal" for you, your body, and to learn how MS affects you. MS has taught me patience. Of course, it's slowed me down too, so the patience really comes in handy now
I'm well into my second year of this carp (well, the 2nd year since diagnosis) and I still dont know when to freak or not to freak out. The burning was irritating me, freaking me out a lot, but when I also had numbness going around my waist and down the other night, that's when I started to panic.

I was already really uncomfortable from the burn (which was so bad that I couldnt sleep or get comfortable doing anything) then that weird numbness started wanting my attention too. When you're really tired and in pain, then something even more disturbing starts in on you, then it's easy to panic a bunch.

The numbness around my waist lasted about a day or more, but now it's not as bad. My leg is still burning, but now it's pretty much around the kneecap and up. I have some numbness at my hip that goes in towards the stomach and another area where I really dont want to have numbness.

The burn is now down to probably what I would describe as very hot sunlight shining on my leg (maybe a little hotter than that) The burning I had the other night, I'd probably describe that as "molten lava" being poured over my leg.

My legs are a little stumbly now. (that wasnt really there before) I went out with my boyfriend sunday and ended up dragging a cane with me to the movies because I didnt trust my legs to walk very well, and I was also dizzy (the cane was more for the dizzies than for the stumblies)

Today, I've got some mild numbness on my left elbow (same side as the burning) So, I'm guessing something is going wonko somewhere in my spine or brain that is making my left side all weird.
