That's why you will hear people say that they aren't having attacks, yet they continue to decline significantly. In fact, there are some that are of the opinion that inflammation isn't a "bad" thing at all, and a necessary part of the healing that is required with this disease. Seems to defy logic, but long-term studies have not proven our meds to be effective over the long run, for most people, so clearly something's not working the way it is intended.

My neuro is involved in that BG trial too, and she was expecting some good results. I haven't heard anything negative yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed . . .
