Lightbulb I will ask my son....

We are going there for Thanksgiving.

A month ago we tried to install ZoneAlarm on the new laptop, and it got
into a "war" with the antivirus that was on it already.

They can conflict with each other.

Do you have Win XP? If so here is safe mode directions.

You can sometimes do things in safe mode, that won't work otherwise.

Try to uninstall that way. I don't know much myself, but I will ask him for you.
If he has any ideas I will post them. I do know that virus programs fight with each other. You could try disabling the other program that came with the computer.

Searching WinPro 2006

If you can still get on the net, try to get a free trojan killer..and that might remove it...

AČ Free For trojan removal/scanning.

6) SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

7) SpywareGuard 2.2 SpywareGuard provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method.

An anti-virus program scans files before you open them and prevents execution if a virus is detected - SpywareGuard does the same thing, but for spyware! And you can easily have an anti-virus program running alongside SpywareGuard.

Then make sure you have an anti-virus and firewall. And as usual, the best ones we recommend are free ones.
Time to discuss with Alan....NEVER download ANYTHING in a popup!
And seriously consider any download EVER... I don't even visit hyper links when posted on forums! That is why I always post urls.

This is an awful thing for you Mel, I hope you see this post!
