I do not know whether it is MG or not, but I think your surgeon's answer is on the easy side because one of the circumstances which could trigger MG is anesthesia and the use of antibiotics, some products can exacerbate MG grounds.
That doesn't mean that your surgeon responspbility may be invoked…
Why would it take so long to see a neurologist?
