He does sound like he is not wanting to learn new things as is needed in the case of "rare" and unusual conditions such as RSD.

I would really do some searching around for a new doc while he is on his vacation.

Was the fall and tailbone injury noted by hospital staff?
I would make sure that is done asap - just in case something comes of it.
