Ocala pilot CarolAnn Garratt and her co-pilot Carol Foy of Texas landed in Orlando just before 9 a.m. today setting a world speed record and barely beating a strong Florida storm front.
"We did it," Garratt said as well-wishers poured champagne over her head.
The two made the around-the-globe flight in a tiny, single-engine plane in eight days.
Their main mission was to raise money for research on ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease, which claimed the life of Garratt's mother.
