I've had a numb tongue, roof of my mouth, lips, throat, etc. and have never lost my ability to taste. In fact, it's usually then (with mouth numbness) that I start getting increased yucky "smells"; boiling bones, fire, diapers . . . blah!
I've heard of others that have temporarily lost their sense of taste . . . but in my experience, "taste" and "numbness" don't necessarily go hand-in-hand.
It does sound like perhaps you are in a relapse though, with at least two new symptoms. We can be affected in many different/varying ways when we are relapsing, with no two people presenting exactly the same way.
