I had severe adenomyosis... which began after my third child.
back then, I didn't know it had a name, just that it hurt.
I had never had heavy periods before, and never any cramps, so it was a big surprise, but I had no medical insurance, and was working fulltime, with no family nearby to help, and 3 kids to support, so I just *dealt* with it.
I would spend 5 or 6 days per month in clutching pain, with very heavy bleeding,
finally, it got so bad that at age 35 I found a sympathetic doctor, who agreed to accept "temporary Medicaid" and did a hysterectomy, leaving the ovaries and tubes in place.
my step-daughter is now going through this, and she's having an "ablation" done in February.
