I have never had an EMG, my Pain Management Doctor said there isn't much point in getting one really as it doesn't show RSD unless you have nerve damage with it as Karen said. The only tests I had when I was diagnosed with RSD were blood tests, MRI scan and X-Rays as my doctor said my RSD was "text book". Unfortunately, at the moment there is no test to diagnose or rule out RSD which makes it really difficult for Doctors to make an accurate diagnosis. Diagnosis is usually just based on the signs and symptoms and if I remember correctly, you have to have at least 5 of the listed symptoms of RSD to be diagnosed.
I'm sorry that you have been diagnosed with RSD

, I hope and pray that you do not have it and that there is something else causing your pain and symptoms. Please know that you have found an excellent board and everyone is more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
All the best,
Alison.
