I was on Mirapex for 10 years for RLS. I found it did nothing for pain, but at doses of 0.125 to 0.675mg at bedtime only, it did a great job of controlling RLS. Miraculous. I am off of it now, except for occassional usage.
Some people have problems with dopamine. dopamine can slow down your GI system...in susceptible people, sleep attacks occur, and yes compulsive behavior of any kind can occur.
Opposite drugs to Mirapex, are drugs like risperdal, zyrexa, haldol, abilify...those drugs suppress dopamine and can cause movement disorders. Mirapex causes more dopamine to be available to the nervous system.
