My brother lost his wife of over 30 years at the end of February 2007. I wasn't sure he'd survive it. He couldn't even stay at their home for a long time, because he couldn't bear to see her things. For weeks and weeks he would sob when we talked on the the phone.
Then, about nine months later, I got an email from him about the weather, being busy, yadda yadda, by the way I'm getting married in May, had any snow yet?
Do WHAT???
He'd met someone through his job that had recently lost her husband. They chatted, found things in common, fell in love. Bing bang boom, as he put it so eloquently.
I was somewhat taken aback, but he certainly loved my sweet sister-in-law and grieved her loss deeply, and he and his new wife sure seem to be sickeningly in love. I can't imagine it, but we're all different.
