I suspect Marc's doctor is doing these because he is "studying" if there are early markers for PML, not just because he is "monitoring" his patients. In that case, people who have agreed to this procedure are doing it for the benefit of science, not to preempt further damage.
If I were taking Tysabri, and there was evidence that I
may have developed PML, I guess I'd have to agree to a LP.

In fact, I doubt very much that anyone currently on Tysabri would have a choice in the matter . . . IF they are suspected of PML and removing the person from the drug (+plasma) didn't effectively alter their course.
