the funny thing withmonitors is... that if the older monitor had a resolution set to high it would also make the monitor not show a picture. i have had this happen a few times over the years. so i usually set up a new monor that i know is better and if it turns on then i set the resolution a bit lower. like standard 640 resolution then gradually build it up to 1024x 768 . whichis where i keep mine at. it can go up almost three times that but then everything would be soooo small...

try with the monitor that works. to set it up to a lower resolution. then turn off computer. hook up old monitor with a new cable and see if the picture comes on. if it does boot up with it then you can change monitor resolution a bit highr at a time to see when it brok at.
