well i can tell you I take no meds and have no "off"times 6 and a half years after mine. My balance has gone to hell in the last two years but that is something tha neither meds nor DBS will fix.
When my left battery died, I was essentially paralyzed on my affected side, right side, left IPG. Severe dystonia. It was horrible.
I woke up from the surgery with Jeff my MDS reprogramming me. I got up and walked two hours later, once the anesthesia had worn off.
I went home ( walked to the car) at the end of the day.
