I absolutely agree with you on this.

I think genetics pre-determine what will happen to us. Every time I go to the Accord Program and some new guy asks me this question: "Did anyone in your family have diabetes". And I say 'well, I got it because I used to weigh 300 lbs, but my father got it when he was 80 (due to meds they gave him), and my grandmother got it at 79) (don't know why, she was maybe 30 lbs over what she should have weighed), ....well, ABSOLUTELY every doctor has said the following to me:

"You have a family history of diabetes, it's genetic".

I look at them. I did the research. On my mom's side of the family 90% of them had some form of cancer in various stages of their life. They ALL smoked by the way. ABSOLUTELY ALL OF THEM.

My father's side had no cancer but had heart stuff going on. But they lived LONG lives.

So my theory is "we are made up of dominant genes, recessive genes, mutated genes, ALL KIND OF GENES'. We also have markers.

Now I'm figuring that I probably have the markers for cancers. I mean, EVERYBODY ON MY MOM'S SIDE HAD CANCER of some form or another. My grandmother had leukemia (but she got this when she was in her 70's.

So why some people get it younger and others don't, well, I would have to think about triggers.

Since I believe this way, I don't want to put any triggers in my body.

That's why I eat the way I do, no one has smoked in my home, etc.

I now make the majority of my food from stuff I grow. I am also making home-made yogurt.

I try to do whatever I can do so my diabetes doesn't win.

If I succeed, then I succeed.

I have a found great hobby in growing stuff in my kitchen. Of course most of the people I know think I'm nuts and wouldn't eat a sprout if their life depended on it, and believe me, they would not go near yogurt.

But that's their choice.

I like the way my stomach feels eating this way. I get my fiber, my protein and whatever else is in these sprouts.

And I have a nice hobby that saves me moolah!!

And you should see my sprouts when I put them near the windowsill and give them just a bit of sunlight. Oh my god, you can see them turn green right in front of your eyes.

So maybe I can turn off a few bad genes and hopefully turn on some GOOD ones!!!

One can only hope!!

lol
