After 4 concussions, 1 which was Stage 3, I have spent the past 1 1/2 years in an altered state of consciousness. I still have visual flashes and hallucinations, but others around you do not understand and thats the most frustrating part of it. Seeing others with plenty of energy is very frustrating because Post Concussion syndrome drains every last bit off your energy because your body is trying to repair all that damaged tissue. I changed as a person after being carried off of that football feild. As far as advice goes, sleep is KEY in the healing process, Excursive also helps because it supplies fresh oxygen rich blood to the damged nurons in the brain as well as the damaged cranial tissue promoting excellent encouragment to the healing process. Taking vitamins and eating heathly are key when recovering from PCS. Most of all, and this is the most frustrating thing in the world, healing from a concussion takes time, and I mean ALOT OF TIME, YEARS. I have been in a sate of Post concussion syndrome for going on 3 years now due to my addiction to highschool sports which almost got me killed, BUT IT DIDNT, and thats what I take strength in, the fact that I am not dead! So be strong and dont forget to exercise your mind just like your body, it is the same concept, the more you work it out, the stronger it gets, so reading and other mind busying tasks are great if possible. Give yourself time to heal and dont get discouraged!!!
