Please keep us posted on what your Pain Doc says and does. Try to rest and take plenty of pain meds to keep the pain from taking hold (further irritating the sympathetic nervous system) until you can see your doc for a block or other treatment. Some of the pain at night may be due to muscle spasms from "guarding" against the pain. The feet are FULL of nerve endings so that could explain a lot of the extreme pain you're in. Check to see if you can increase your muscle relaxants for a short time until you can get in to the doctor. Try hard (a paradox in terms, I know) not to worry. That will only increase your pain and keep the SNS turned on full blast. It sounds like you're doing everything you can for now.

I'm sure you have already, but make sure your son knows he didn't do anything wrong. I'm sure he feels terrible seeing his Mom in so much pain and thinking it was somehow his fault. Accidents happen (I just washed my son's MP3 player in the laundry yesterday and ruined it.....I had to tell him this in reverse). I know that isn't a fair analogy.......but I have a SERIOUS guilt complex anyway and feel horrible!!!

Please take care and keep us posted on how you're doing!! I am inclined to think positively that it is just a nasty bruise that will resolve once the initial trauma goes down!!
