Peripheral neurology would certainly describe how many of us feel we are treated by our neurologists, but I don't think it's reached the level of a syndrome yet.
But, many blood proliferative disorders are associated with neuropathy, as there seem to be a number of proteins/antibodies that cross react with certain nerve epitopes and cause symptoms. Do your blood tests only reveal incresed platelets without increases or reductions in other cell types? Have they done an immunoelectrophoresis to check for monoclonal antibodies, which are often associated with neuropathy?
Generally, essential thrombocytosis is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning testing has not found any alternative explanation for increased platelet production.
