One of my tasks was to remove the pink pellet from Darvon Compound capsules (Lilly) for orders from surgeons on the OB/GYN floor. Seems this rendered the capsule to an aspirin/caffeine placebo and was a test to see if the hysterectomy patients were "really" in pain.

It's been such a long time since I've had that stuff but I do remember being prescribed Darvon on many occasion.
This darvocette stuff...nope, doesn't do anything for me.
