Default Long ago....

....and I mean 40 years, I remember a magazine article about a researcher who made similar claims. Unfortunately, his wonder substance was derived from chicken feet and was therefore dismissed out of hand. This one is made from pig bladders and may suffer the same fate. Maybe the Net will make the difference.

In both cases, I suspect that collagen plays a role. The researcher speaks of "the matrix" guiding the growth of the new tissue. It may be more a matter of stimulating the growth according to the plan in the remaining tissues. There used to be a game where one would color squares on graph paper based on rules with the results being determined by the squares already colored. If A and B, then C. If you lose the tip of your finger it may be that that first row of remaining cells contains the instructions to build the next row. That next row might contain the instructions for the next and so on. The magic powder may supply the signal to actually do it.

The important thing about this is that it makes the possibilities known and once we know something like this really can be done, half the battle is over. So don't let anyone tell you that you are doomed.
