Default Home from my trip

Hi guys,
Just wanted to check in and let you know how I got on while I was away. The trip was fantastic. We missed a day due to snow, and our programme had to be modified slightly (we couldn't go sailing because the edges of the lake were frozen) but we had a fantastic time. I went indoor rock climbing - didn't get to the top of the wall, but was over half way there. That was probably the most strenuous activity I did, but there were lots of other things I couldn't have done a year ago. They had a huge swing that hoists you in the air 55 feet. You need to all pull together to raise the swing so the pulling was a lot of repetative motion and I was able to do that. I also went on the swing and screamed like a lunatic. I thought I ws going to die - but it was great fun! And the kids loved seeing me looking foolish. We did archery, orienteering and a lot of hiking too. My MG didn't stop me once! I was nervous of course but things couldn't have gone smoother.

Now just some context for you: Last year this was the week I was at my lowest. I was in hospital for my IVIG and was bedridden for 4 days when I got home. That was the only time I have missed work due to my MG and I really thought the world, my husband etc etc, would be better off without me. I've always been a positive person but I was definitely depressed and didn't think I would ever improve. To think how far i've come in a year is unbelievable. I'm still by no means in remission and can'e get any lower than 40 mg of pred but I'm managing everything now.

I think the support I get from sites like this helps so much too! It's so reassuring to know you are all out there and dealing with the same s£*% and getting through it! What a determined group we are. Thank you to each of you for sharing your experiences and keeping me strong.

Okay, enough waffle! Time to do the vast amount of laundry that has built up while I was away!!

Take care!
~Kathy

PS - the kids I went away with were fantastic as well, they got so much out of the trip and were all in bed by 12:30 each night so I didn't even have to get cross with any of them. Such a good group. One girl who is selectively mute told me at the end of the week she learned how to talk to people and she promised to continue to do so - i could have cried! I love my pupils SO much!
