Nathalie Ketterer

Paperback, 5.5x8.5 in, 172 pages
Wheatmark, November 2007
ISBN: 9781587368905

Description

When Nathalie Ketterer's son Jim was thirty-three, the unthinkable struck-amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Jim met his cruel fate with honesty, intelligence, and courage, desiring only to be remembered after he was gone.

In Count Each Day: A Son's Heroic Journey with ALS, Nathalie fulfills Jim's last wish. More than that, she describes with heartbreaking clarity how a family hangs together in times of crisis, how every moment matters, and how, in the end, love is stronger than death. Her story will resonate with anyone who has ever faced the loss of a loved one.

About the Author

Nathalie Ketterer currently lives in Fairlawn, Ohio, with her husband, Ed. They have two grown children now that Jim is deceased, and six grandkids. Born in Wisconsin, Nathalie graduated from Marquette University and went on to earn a master's from the State University of New York. She taught high school English off and on, and most recently taught composition and basic writing at the University of Akron.

In Count Each Day: A Son's Heroic Journey with ALS, Fairlawn resident Nathalie Ketterer tells of her son Jim's tragic diagnosis and eventual death in 2005 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known to many as Lou Gehrig's disease. Jim, married with two young sons, had support from his parents and siblings as his health declined, and his family also helped raise money for research.
