Default Trial for combo of 2 MS drugs together

Multiple sclerosis

Study will pair two medications

If two heads are better than one in solving problems, could two drugs be better than one in treating multiple sclerosis?

That's what researchers at St. Louis University will try to find out in a new study that will offer a pair of approved drugs to some patients.

Study participants will be randomly divided into three groups: A fourth will received Interferon beta-1a (Avonex), a fourth will be given Copaxone and half will take both.

The study will last three years and will involve 1,000 patients at 70 centers nationwide. To be eligible, you must be between 18 and 60 and have relapsing-remitting MS. You must also have had at least two attacks of symptoms in the last three years and cannot have ever taken either study medication in the past.
