Retail pharmacies don't "promote"...
They offer sales, and some loss leaders to get you into the
store. Advertising costs tons of $$...

When new products like Neurogen come out, they sell at a lower wholesale price to some large chains, because in their ADs for it, in magazines and on the net (or TV if they get that far)...there will be the trailer..."available at CVS or whatever"
CVS does NOT pay for that advertising, they made a deal to carry the product with that clause.

When you see an ad in a flyer for Walgreen's or CVS...there are agreements behind the scenes. NatureMade for example, in the Buy one get one....that is one of them. NatureMade is giving those products at a discount to the pharmacy in that event.
