Default Antibiotic Information For All

To all,

I think perhaps we all at one time or another have been put on antibiotics for some reason.

We are told to take the entire dose. I know there have been many times that as soon as I started feeling better I didn't finish them all.

Antibiotic resistant organisms are becoming an epidemic. This means that new strains of bacteria are building up immunity to certain drugs.

Each time we do not finish our entire prescribed dose we may be leaving some of the bacteria cells still hanging around.

This allows them to become stronger and tougher. So the next time a person is prescribed an antibiotic this particular bacteria is not going to respond to it.
It has become resistant.

This does not happen to everyone but it is important to finish your entire prescription as written.

The elderly, children and those of use who have auto-immune diseases are more susceptible.

I have several auto-immune problems, work in a hospital and do not have it, so this is not to frighten, just enlighten.

I learned this from workshops offered at the hospital and it sure makes sense to me.

Just thought I would let you know what I learned and find important for all of us.

Thanks for listening,

Judy
