Kids do amazing things sometimes. I remember having to sleep with a large stuffed animal since it was the only thing big enough to chase the monsters from the closet or from under the bed. I cried and had a fit when I lost it on a family vacation. My poor parents.

Sorry to hear your DD had a rough night. Maybe you could add something like a stuffed animal. Say you found out that the sandman will find her if she has it by her bed, so he can find her even when she's not at home? Just an idea.
