[QUOTE=geolek;472393]Hello Beth!
Do you know greek?
Very little I'm afraid, George, despite holidaying there almost every year for the past 25 years Never really got much past the Hello/goodbye/two coffees, medium sweet, with milk/do you have any eggs stage. Every time I feel I'm picking a bit more up it's time to come home! I love Greece & the Greeks, though.
Well, if I had been in a greek hospital of our NHS, then my public insurance would have covered anything. However, due to the complexity of my aneurysm, it was better to be in a private specialized hospital, but then the public insurance would have covered a small portion of the cost. This is not the problem as I have a private insurance as well, so I can choose to be treated anywhere. The reason I chose Swiss is that there is a hospital with high specialization in endovascular treatment and I had chosen to check this aternative first.
Ah right! Sorry, I've realised that my question may have seemed rude; that wasn't my intention I was just interested - I know that getting specialist treatment on the smaller islands is virtually impossible, but I wasn't sure how good, or technologically advanced, the Athens hospitals were. I can quite see why, with a case as complex as yours, you would want a really specialised specialist!
For my first hospitalization which had MRI+CTA+Angiography, private bed, Prof.Doc in a university public hospital, the total cost was around 25.500 euros, half of them covered by my public insurance (the rest hopefully by my private one).
I hope so
However, the magnitude of the costs in USA are quite different. And since there are many top places for rare and difficult cases, I would like somebody to give me a rough idea.
The figures I've seen quoted in response to this query elsewhere are horrendous, aren't they?
