I can understand how disappointing and stressful this is for your friend and her husband !

I would recommend that you try to see what your friend's husband can do. Social Security tends to look at things from that angle. Can he wash things, manage money, talk & comprehend what others say, follow directions, remember instructions, etc? Are any of those areas impaired? If so, how? To what extent? Tell your friend that she and her husband must be implicit when listing what he can and cannot do. Second, make sure that doctors agree with their opinion. Third, they should get an attorney and file for appeal.
