In the last ten years, I've seen:
6 PCPs (Last year I FINALLY found a REAL doctor--what a relief!!)
3 neurologists (very nice people very skilled at confusing the heck out of me)
2 ophthalmologists (nice reassuring types)
1 rheumatologist (uninterested, unhelpful, unbelievable, and snarky too)
1 regular ENT (did all the right things when I lost my hearing, good guy)
1 neuro-otologist (ENT inner-ear specialist), but actually four if you count three more that I saw not for diagnosis but on the tortuous path to get a special kind of hearing aid. Very nice people, but only really interested in surgery.
1 spine specialist/orthopedist (checked more reflexes than all the previous docs put together!)
And the diagnostic result of all those doctors and dollars: a big fat ZERO!
(At least it was mostly the insurance companies' dollars; not that I'm happy about that.)
I did get some good results, though--an excellent pill for the brain fog, an excellent hearing aid (Baha system), and an excellent pair of "ghostbusting" reading glasses.
