Hi to all,
I experienced a ruptured right internal carotid artery on August 7, 2008. Since I had not had migraines since my early 20's, I thought they had come back with a vengence and did not seek medical help until the 9th. The neurosurgeon told my family i should be dead. But guess what, I'm not. After 2 weeks in Neuro/Trauma ICU and another 2 weeks on the Neuro unit, I walked out (with a walker and support from fiance) and got married a week later as planned. I must admit I do not remember much about my wedding, which is sad, but I do have what I call "movie previews" that come to me every now and then. I continue to experience daily neuropathic headaches that range from "nagging" to full blown severe migraines with neuropathy. I also continue to experience short term memory loss, cognitive problems, now mild expressive aphasia and vision problems that are still uncorrective due to vision flucuations.
In Sept of 2007 my then 35 yo nephew also experienced a ruptured aneurism....I also have an aunt that died with a "mother-daughter" aneurism in 2000. Makes heridity seem realistic.
