I actually watched about 15 minutes of the show. My work schedule is skewed right now and I was home when it was on and when I turned the TV on expecting the news I got Montel/Oprah.
I've never liked the guy (crybaby) but he did say one thing - about every morning he wakes up the first thing he thinks about is whether or not he can walk.
That's my first thought. I get out of bed, stand there, take a step, and give a silent "ok, another day."
When I was dx'ed in 1988 I was told:
15% chance - die within a year of pneumonia
15% chance - no more episodes of MS, die at age 60 of pneumonia
40% chance - get slowly worse but stay mostly functional, die at age 60 of pneumonia
30% chance - get worse, eventually end up in a wheelchair, die at age 60 of pneumonia
Guess what. The hug ain't gonna get ya. Pneumonia will. The guy who told me that was 99 years old at the time and a lead MS neurologist in Ohio who had seen a LOT of MS patients.
