PN can be sensory, axonal, etc - and either a polyneuropathy (2 sides, or 2 areas equally affected) or a mononeuropathy (only one area, or one side). Levels of symptoms or pain do not have to be equal. Usually one side is worse than the other just as some people are right or left handed or right brain/left brain. Glenntaj probably will have a more detailed explanation.
