Brain - I had a similar experience. I hit a dog one time going slowly. I heard the thud and the dog yelped. It was a big standard poodle. I stopped and tried to find the dog, but he ran off. I have always felt guilty that I didn't know what happened to that dog, but I couldn't wander around in the dark all night looking for him, either. I do hope he was OK.
