I was given my choice. a truck load of dvds, and information, and my MD only said if I was going to pick Avonex, he would prefer I go with Rebif, as its more meds, more often, and he had that preference. I looked up alot, and researched which one crosses the blood brain barrier vs which one tries to repair it, and the side effects, vs the method of action.
I chose Betaseron, because it tries to plug the blood brain barrier, and stayed on it a few months. My liver enzymes went soaring sky high, and I was pulled. All other meds are interferon and would risk the same thing, so I was forced over to copaxone. I have been on it a year and a half. It was a hard transition, but I eventually adjusted.
I have great insurance, so no matter what I picked it was $3 a month.
