If you chooce the rechargable battery version as I did you can go nine years or longer before replacing the battery. The battery itself is also not the size of a television remote control it is a little larger than a silver dollar. That is all. It is very small. The external remote control is maller than most television remote controls. My insurance also did not hesitate to pay for my surgery all though they did require a psycological evaluation. They do this with almost all surgeries requring foreign object implantations. To make sure you will not freak out. I was also really hurt and offended by the portion of your paper that discisses the use of narcotics. That RSD people consider them in your words favorable because we get a high. Guess what I don't get a high! The reason I dont is because I am in so much pain & the fact that I only take my prescribed dosages. That my body uses all the medication. There is nothing for me to get "high" on. I am also not addicted to them. My body may be dependent on them to some degree but I am not looking for my next fix. You make us sound like a bunch of addictics. Attitudes like that is why more RSD people can't get the help they need.
Denny
PS not every doctor makes you sign a drug contract. I have never had a doctor who required that of their patients.

I concur with Denny on your writing about narcotics. I have never had a high from my medication. With all I take I still have pain even through the breakthrough meds. Narcotics are essential for those of us that have intractable pain that does not respond to all other treatments. the leading doctors in the world just held a conference on the use of narcotic and endorsed full heartedly their need to those of us with intractable pain. You need to to your research and read
Dr. Tennant's Handbook on Intractable Pain. It is free on the web. This type of writing is dangerous fro the community of those of us with intractable pain. It infers "addict behavior".
Regardless of your good intentions. Be sure to correct that section immediately. It is in accurate. And dangerous writing. Read and do your home work and correct that section. the video is on Dr,.Kirkpatrick's website and is called the adverse affects of narcotics for those with intractable pain. The heading sounds like they are not endorsing the use but it just the opposite. They are merely discussing the side effects which must be handled like constipation. Please correct your errors in your paper. It will take you one hour to read Dr. Tennant's Intractable Pain handbook. This is a "Bible" to survival for those of us with intractable pain. I have full body rsd and have been treated by Dr. Schwartz man, Dr. Rohr in Germany, Dr. Kirkpatrick and many other international recognized experts. Pleases make your corrections.
Having gotten hysterical and said all that congratulations on your hard work and sharing it with us. This is just a frighting area for those of us that have no other recourse. So it is important to us that it is written about correctly.Thank you. CZ
