On 4/6 I went to the oral surgeon to have 3 teeth pulled from the left (2 wisdom and one molar) and 1 on the right.
Everything went well and I was eating the next day without problems. Then around day 4 my lymph nodes on the left side started swelling, namely the one on my neck. I also started feeling a weird kind of closing sensation on my throat on the left side and my lips started turning a bright purple. My wife took me to the ER and they gave me celphelexen saying it was an infection. They said I would be ok with it eventhough I've broken out in a rash from amox. My lymph nodes have since gone down some and my lips and mouth are very dry.
Since that day I have started having terrible panic attacks. My jaw has been sore on and off, especially on the lower joint (which could be perfectly normal given i had a tooth ripped out) and I have been extremely moody. About 2 days ago I started feeling this tingling/pins and needles feeling on my cheek where my jaw is and slightly above it. Sometimes there is a slight burning sensation. I have been reading about what this could be and most of it scares the heck out of me. This makes the panic worse. I went to the ER last night and they took blood and urine. They said to stop taking the antibiotic and that there was no sign of infection. They had me see a psychiatrist who gave me seroquel to take for a week to sleep and sent me on my way. The Er doc and the psychiatrist both told me they think that this tingling will go away on its own. They gave me 2 vicodin which did nothing for the tingling but put me to sleep.
I was also seen twice by the oral surgeon and there is no dry socket or visible sign of infection. They gave me the option of taking a strong anti-biotic in case there was an infection. I have an appointment with my gp on monday so i'm waiting to talk to her first.
I have barely been able to eat or drink since my first bout that landed me in the ER. I just have this bad feeling something is wrong with me. I know it sounds crazy and i'm not normally the type to think like this but i don't know what's going on. I've become an anxious, irratible jerk with an annoying feeling in his face. I feel badly for my poor wife. If anything thanks for reading.

Hi joeboi, it sounds like you're having a really awful experience. I'm so sorry to read about how drastically the tooth extractions affected you.
Your lips turning purple sounds really serious. Is that what made them think there was an infection?
If you aren't diabetic you could try vitamin C to kill the infection, if there is still infection.
I had a very bad dental infection due to old dental implants. I was really sick with tetanus as the time and had no money to go to a doctor, so I tried vitamin C after reading some intense accounts of what it can do. I'm about 6 feet tall and weighed about 250 at the time, and I used about 24 grams a day... it took about a day for me to feel a really definite improvement, and then it was basically gone. I mean, not totally gone because I have to keep taking vitamin C, but the swelling went away and the tired feeling from an infection went away.
If you are diabetic then if you also happen to have a particular gene the large amount of vitamin C that I found effective could be risky for you.
I've used C many times in the years since then to get rid of infections.
