Popped out a rib
I was seeing Dr. B, neuro chiro on Thursday and he was doing some work on my neck and knee, since the lower back has settled down a bit this week and needed less attention (BTW, the left knee is a relatively new thing- big knee pain started after work on psoas during a chiro visit and hasn't really left... thoughts???). Dr. had me doing a wall angel to help stretch and strengthen upper back, traps, shoulders, etc. I tried to do it (back up against the wall, wrists palm out and flush with the wall while moving arms up and down) and I couldn't get my left wrist to the wall- my back was too tight. While I tried my right upper back by my shoulder blade cramped up. I curled over to try to stretch it out a little, and Dr. came over to investigate. He said I had a rib that had popped out that he noticed while working on my neck, and I guess the muscles cramping up made it more obvious...? so then he came up behind me, had me put my right hand on my neck with elbow pointing out, and he hugged me from behind and popped the rib back in. Immediate relief... and then lots of pain within about 20 minutes. OUCH!!! Don't know how it happened, or how long it has been that way, or if the rib has stayed in its place. I have scheduled a massage tomorrow with my trusty Yvonne, and pt Monday and Wed, Chiro again on Tuesday and Thurs. Has anyone else ever popped out a rib? Can you tell me more? Prevention, etc? I have been recovering a herniated disc at L5 S1 for about 3 months now, treating with physical therapy and neuro chiropractor visits, with a great deal of success. Now that back is settling down, I have been strengthening my core, doing exercises and stretches, with doctors and pts focusing on treating deep knots that have been deep in neck, back, shoulders and glutes for years. I am SOOOO much better than I was back in Jan and Feb and even March. But popping out ribs now??? geesh....
