Instead of the Neurontin and Lyrica, have you considered Topamax? I am taking it because I had difficulty tolerating the other two. It doesn't cause the weight gain for most people that Neur & Lyrica cause, most people lose weight (although I, unluckily, have gained a few pounds taking it). I haven't had a migraine since starting Topamax, but my head still hurts a lot of the time. I'm fairly certain that my head pain is from problems with my neck and shoulders, though, and none of my headaches had advanced to the migraine stage like they used to.
Topamax might be worth a try for those of you who have had difficulty with Neurontin and Lyrica and are having trouble with the electrical zaps. I am fairly certain that it is in the same family of meds and works in many of the same ways, just that it is also marketed for migraines.
Good luck. I used to get some of the zaps in my left leg (my RSD started in right shoulder, how weird is that?). I hope that you can find a way to make them better.
