I am not REAL familiar with colloid cysts, but I did have a cousin who suffered through much the same thing: a blockage of CSF fluid, and he had to have a shunt, too. When he was younger, he was pretty disabled. It took years of therapy and relearning, but he is now functional again. However, the damage which was inflicted is still evident, in a general-personality way, and the way he hunches. It takes a lot of love and support, and a lot of hair-tearing too, to get back to a semblance of normality. But it CAN happen. Good luck to you and to your daughter!
