Help Our Community Gain Support for H.R. 1362!
Recently, the House Co-Chairs of the Bicameral Congressional Caucus on Parkinson's Disease and the Congressional MS Caucus, introduced H.R. 1362, the National MS and Parkinson's Disease Registries Act. This new legislation will address a long-standing policy issue - who has Parkinson's disease in the United States and why?
If enacted by Congress, H.R. 1362 will create MS and Parkinson's registries that will measure the incidence and prevalence of the diseases and pave the way for other neurological registries. The registries will collect information from existing databases that will provide a foundation for evaluating and understanding many factors, including geographic clusters of diagnoses, variances in gender ratio, changes in health care practices, and changes in disease burden and population over time. It is our hope that these registries will facilitate research that may lead to discovery of breakthrough treatments, and one day a cure for Parkinson's, MS, and other neurological diseases.
PAN, along with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, is working to gain congressional support for H.R. 1362. Ask your Representative to help you and the entire Parkinson's community by co-sponsoring H.R. 1362, the National MS and Parkinson's Disease Registries Act.
