karousel, that has also been my understanding - less time on the Elliptical than a treadmill with as much or more benefit.

Holly, I used a treadmill for a long time and got hurt once. I felt the Elliptical was safer. A treadmill moves and you walk and you need to stop the treadmill to be able to stop (unless you can hop to the side rails, I can't).

The Elliptical doesn't move until you do and when you stop it does. That gives you more control.

I also have drop foot and for the last few months my left leg keeps wanting to give. I haven't fallen...yet. When I was using the Elliptical my leg gave twice but because the elliptical has arms and I am not picking my feet up it was a non-issue.

Sandy, in the time I was testing out the Elliptical it took a very short time to get used to using the arms. We even used the tension and I was still okay
