The man who pushed him suffers from severe depression, was out of medicine, and had been held back 3 hours, preventing him from getting to his MD appointment to get a refill on his script for meds. He had been turned away twice from the line, and broke through a barricade to go tell the suicidal man on the ledge that he was holding up the rest of the world, while he begs for attention, and the rest of the world doesnt want to stop for him. He reached out his hand to him, and when the jumper reached for him, he pushed him!

When asked later, he said suicide jumpers should either jump or go home, but its unfair to hold up the rest of the world from living their lives, while they beg for attention out on ledges. The area had been stopped and barricaded for 5 hours while they tried to deal with the jumper, and the old man said he couldnt take it anymore.
