I have seen posts here and there that it is not being recommended anymore. The damaging inflammatory response may go in the opposite direction than desired.
I just attended a pain conference a week ago, and one of the doctors said definitely not to get prolotherapy!

Read this.... risks if done wrong, or improperly. Risks if NSAIDs are used, etc. Some people overreact to the stimulus.
Etc etc. This is not a clear cut beneficial procedure IMO.
