First of all, my heart goes out to those who have recently lost their pet. I've been posting on the MS forum about the loss of my cat, Picabo.
When I started thinking about what to do after Peek died, I really wanted to have her cremated and keep her ashes with me. But I knew that would be prohibitively expensive here. I would have liked to bury her near me, but I knew we probably wouldn't be in this house forever. So I settled on burying her on my family farm where I grew up and my mom still lives. It's a beautiful spot, and Peek spent some time there when we were getting moved once.
My horse is buried just a hundred yards or so from Picabo's grave. I had to put him down after my dad died. I had gotten him for my 9th birthday when he was a 2 yr old. I think he was about 25 years old when he died. I had to hire a backhoe to bury him.
