So sorry to hear about your pain. I was in my early 30's when my TN started. As BMW suggested, get opinion from a neurologist or neuorsurgeon who specialize in TN. Have them order an MRI to insure nothing is banging into your T-nerve. If your primary doc won't refer you to a specialist, then get a new primary doc who is willing to help you. Don't give up and settle for taking a ton of meds (unless you find a low dosage really relieves your pain). There are many options for treatment, and you will find people in this forum that have certainly tried one or more various treatments. I tried just about everything over the years: meds, acupuncture/pressure, chiropractics, massage therapy, meds, and more meds. I eventually tried a Gamma Knife treatment and then finally had a MVD surgery done about 12 weeks ago. I'm now pain free but only after trying several options. Don't give up your quest for a pain-free life. We are all pulling for you here!
