Default PN from chemo drugs - more info

As a follow up to my Mum's story, here's what's happening. Oh and by the way, thanks to everyone who replied to my previous threads!

So she had Taxol and Carboplatin and after 3 x 3 week courses she started developing severe pain in the legs and feet. She's basically been bed-bound for a month now, in severe pain on Oromorph, Gabapentin and Morphine Sulphate.

The neurologist diagnosed her with GBS (Guillain-Barré syndrome) and prescribed 5 days of IVIG which appeared to do nothing at all. He did mention an alternative, Plasmapheresis but said it was quite traumatic to do that.

Today I hear she's lost all feeling in her left arm, so it appears the neuropathy is getting worse. We're all very concerned and upset by the lack of progress on this.

Any suggestions on what to do next? I'm not all that happy with the neurologist as he doesn't seem to offer much in the way of suggestions, he shrugs a lot. Any recommendations for a good neurologist in the UK or London? I'm prepared to send her to Harley St. or Guy's Hospital and money is not really a concern.

Many thanks,

Nick.
