Hi
I am T2. The night time hormones you are referring to isn't hormones. It is glucose, being released by your liver. It is called Dawn Phenomon sp? It's late and I'm sleepy! It's really hard to control, but can be done. You are on the right track with eating before bed, but try a half an apple with peanutbutter, or a handful of almonds. The reason DP occurs, is your liver thinks you are starving, and releases the glucose. Do you test before you go to bed? If you were up around 3, or 4, try a test then.
Yes, metformin will put you in the bathroom. Have you thought about Byetta? Some of us have good success with it. I did not. It will help you with weight loss, if you can tolerate it.
I lurk a lot here, and I invite you to check out the American Diabetes Assn. Message boards. Most of us there are into tight control, and there are some really knowledgeable people there, like MrsD is here.
I am Aussiemom1 there, look forward to seeing you soon!
