Default Hello, Introduction

Hi, I am new to this, not to message boards but to this one.

I am 38 and have had a Dx of bipolar disorder for 10 years, I am pretty stable on a cocktail of medications that I have been on for quite a while now.

The main reason I came here is because I have an 8 year old son, who I believe has Tourettes. We have an appointment with a Neuro on Wednesday, but after I read about Tourettes it was a hand to the head moment for me. I am pretty sure as he has vocal and motor tics, and has had them for about 3 years now that I look back.

I realized there was a problem at his spring sing concert, when in between songs he was ticcing so badly he couldn't stand still, and he was making all kinds of strange faces. It was a sinking feeling for me. I didn't know at that point what was wrong, I just saw my son through different eyes, as if for the first time, and realized things had gone way too far.

My concern started because his neck jerking, and rolling, and wrist and finger tics are so bad, that his neck is getting messed up. He also hyper extends his fingers so much it makes me cringe. He is doing so much damage, I fear for the state of his joints in the future.

I have put together a few videos for the neurologist we are seeing on Wednesday. If anyone has any advice, on what I should bring, or do, Questions to ask. I feel at least like I am over the shock part of realizing what was wrong. I do not know what to expect form this first appointment. She is a child neurologist that works out of UCLA neurology department, and she works with kids that have Autism, and OCD, and other types of neurological disorders, so I am hopeful that I will find a knowledgeable dr (fingers crossed)

(we have taken him to so many doctors) for his neck, for his knee, for his throat, the neck and knee doctors both said its a tic and will go away, the allergy doctor of course wants him on a nebulizer all day, which makes him bounce off the walls, and he is then a twitching mess.

well, if you read this far, thanks
