I wish my mom understood. I was upstairs, talking to my dad about my current vision problem. (diplopia) and how it seems to be more affected by light. It's not as bad in dim light. (maybe I have optic neuritis again?) My mom was in the room, and I know she heard me talking about it, because I was asking my dad to take me to my eye doctor appointment tomorrow, and she started whining that she wanted to "go somewhere too".
A few minutes later, I'm in the kitchen, with the lights off, watching Stargate: Continuum in HD on the plasma tv (with the lights off, and sitting closer than I usually do, I was kind of enjoying it). I was trying to eat some lunch, and my mom comes in, flips on all the lights in the upstairs.
I asked nicely to turn the lights off, and she started yelling at me. So, I just got up and went downstairs. She started yelling at me that she wanted the lights on, and why the $%^& do I want to sit with the lights off?
She only pays attention when it's something that affects her. She has no empathy for me having a vision problem. I'm sorry that she's bored and wanted to go somewhere all day. I was bored too. (nothing on tv but the Michael Jackson farewell "party"...because it seemed more partyish to me than a memorial service)
I wanted to go out for lunch somewhere, or at least go to the store and get some Chef Boyardee canned spaghetti. (hungry for that for some reason) But, I'm not about to risk my life or my car just because I'm bored and hungry. I drove when I had optic neuritis the last time, but at least then, I only saw one of everything...right now everything and everyone has a twin right next to it unless it's closer than 10 feet to me.
Now my mom is in a kvetchy mood because I didnt do anything to entertain her today. I dont know which is more annoying, the MS or my mom. (probably my mom)
